Publication Charges

Submission of articles to the Journal is free. However, for accepted articles there is an article processing charge to cover production and administrative costs (that would otherwise be recovered through journal sales and subscriptions for a restricted access journal). Solicited articles may be published at a reduced charge or even free of cost in rare cases. Authors belonging to non-commercial academic and health institutions from developing nations (click here to see a list of eligible developing countries) lacking sufficient research support funds will receive particular consideration. Requests for charge reduction or waiver must be accompanied by a letter of support from your head of department or the finance officer of your institution. Please send such request to the Editorial Office at the time of manuscript submission. Nonetheless, only the quality of a manuscript and not the authors’ ability to pay publication charges is the criterion for publication, since the reviewers do not have access to such information. Furthermore, our open access publishing charges are highly-competitive and are there only to make the journal publishing self-sustainable and progressive.

Authors may pay a single charge for free worldwide online access to their article(s) at one of the following rates:-

A List Countries: GB £150 per article

B List Countries: GB £200 per article

Rest of the World: GB £325 per article

The above charges are valid for articles in the category of reviews and mini-reviews, research articles and short reports, and new methods and technologies, within the recommended size limits (see Preparation of Manuscripts). Longer articles will be charged at £50 per every additional 400 words (or a fraction), per extra figure or table, or per every ten extra references (or a fraction), regardless of the geographical location of the authors.

Other types of articles, such as news, opinions, letters, meeting reports and editorials will be charged at GB £50 (A List), GB £75 (B List) and GB £125 (Rest of the World) per journal page, or a fraction of a page (guide: ca. 800 words per page, excluding figures or table).

Editing Charges

In-house copy editing of submitted manucripts is kept to a minimum. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the English language of their manuscript, and if their first language is not English they should have their manuscript proofread by other colleagues. We can also provide the services of native English speakers to edit or translate a manuscript but costs of such revision will be passed on to the authors. The corresponding author is notified at the time of manuscript submission, should a manuscript require extensive linguistic editing.

Authors must also provide references in the correct journal format. Costs of extensive formatting of references will be passed on to the authors.
