(09 March 2020)

We are following the UK Government recommendations, and the University of Oxford and the hosting college restrictions on gatherings. As things stand, we do not plan to cancel any of our forthcoming events. However, we will let our delegates know, should the situation changes in the future.

Health & Safety

You can follow general common sense and hygiene practices to minimise catching and spreading infections (including COVID19 and other respiratory viruses):

Hand washing
  • Wash your hands with soap and water more often than usual when travelling.
  • If you are travelling in public transport make sure that you carry with you a hand-sanitiser and clean your hand after touching handle-bars, push-buttons, ticket machines, etc.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before entering the venue.
  • Wash your hands regularly during the event.
Catch and deal with sneezes and coughs properly
  • DO NOT sneeze or cough into your bare hands.
  • Cover your mouth with a clean tissue paper when sneezing or coughing and discard it safely in a bin. Wash your hands thoroughly afterwards with soap and water as sneezing/coughingthrough a tissue can still leave gunk on your hands.
  • Sneeze or cough into your elbow, which can effectively prevent the fluids from spreading.
Hand-shaking

We strongly discourage hand-shaking during our events.

  • DO NOT shake hand when greeting colleagues.
  • DO NOT touch any part of your face to avoid getting an infection.
Participation of high-risk persons

If you are from a high-risk area, have travelled to a high-risk area, or suspect having a respiratory infection (no matter how mild), please do not register. We would welcome you the next time.

Region affected by COVID19 outbreak

If you are unwell before the meeting please consult your health professional and stay at home. In order to ensure the well-being of other event participants, any person showing symptoms of flu will be requested to leave.

Disclaimer: Our guidelines given in this document are based on the WHO and the UK Government’s recommendation and so we do not take any legal responsibility of the outcome of following them. Participants are advised that due to the international nature of any such events, there is always an increased risk of catchng infections (including COVID19 and other respiratory viruses). Therefore, you are attending at your own risk.
